"We must let go of the life we have planned, so as to accept the one that is waiting for us ."

                      -- Joseph Campbell

"I believe that 'should' is one of the most damaging words in our language. Every time we use it, we are, in effect, saying that we are wrong, or we were wrong, or we're going to be wrong. I would like to take the word 'should' out of our vocabulary forever and replace it with the word 'could'. This word gives us a choice, and we're never wrong."

                              -- Louise Hay

"The best years of your life are the ones in which you decide your problems are your own. You do not blame them on your mother, the ecology, or the president. You realize that you control your own destiny ."

                         -- Dr. Albert Ellis

About Me

I have been in private practice since 2003, seeing clients at offices in Redondo Beach and Beverly Hills. My lifelong interest in psychology and how we grow and mature throughout life, along with my gifts for empathy, communication, validation, balance and wisdom, led me to this field.

After graduating from Antioch University in Los Angeles in 2001 with a Masters Degree in Psychology, I began the process of obtaining a Marriage and Family Therapist License. This change in career happened at age 40, after two interesting and fulfilling careers in Third World Development and Independent Film Production. The life experience and responsibilities of my previous careers have proven valuable as I evolved into a psychotherapist.

Managing a consulting business in Nairobi, Kenya from 1983 to 1992 and producing independent films in New York City from 1993 to 1999, I learned important lessons and skills in the areas of motivation, team building, individual preferences and helping people to identify and celebrate their gifts and uniqueness. It became clear to me in midlife that therapy was my full-time calling.

I was raised between New York City and Athens, Greece and have the same split bloodline. I went to Kent School in Kent, Connecticut and attended Trinity College in nearby Hartford. As an undergrad majoring in international relations, I was able to study in Rome and Vienna. My life-long love of travel and gathering life experience is reflected in the odd jobs I had early on, including working in a night shelter for homeless men in Birmingham, England, as a deck hand on a merchant ship, a tractor driver on a kibbutz in Israel, and a hand-truck driver on a fruit farm in the south of Greece.

Being a father of three children and having the family experience is the ultimate journey and challenge. It has given me the skills I value most, for myself and my clients as we all try to navigate our way through life and relationship.
